After ten years and two trips to the Grammy’s, Grupo Fantasma struck gold. Austin’s Latin funk orchestra, Grupo Fantasma, took home the Grammy for Best Latin Rock, Alternative or Urban Album for “El Existential” at the 53rd Grammy Awards on February 13th. This is their first Grammy win. Grupo Fantasma has self-produced all four of its studio albums and funded “El Existential” entirely on their own and signed a distribution deal with Nat Geo Music, the National Geographic Society’s new world music label.
